Blake Shelton: news, music and more
Blake Shelton is one of country music's biggest stars and one of television's most familiar faces. Known for his booming baritone, his self-deprecating humour and his long run as a coach on NBC's The Voice, he has built a fan base that reaches far beyond Nashville. This page collects our Blake Shelton coverage.
From Oklahoma to Nashville
Blake grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, and moved to Nashville as a teenager to chase a career in country music. His debut single Austin, a tender song about a phone message and a second chance at love, became a major country hit and launched his career.
A string of country hits
Over the following years Blake built an impressive catalogue of chart-toppers, including Some Beach, Honey Bee, God Gave Me You, Boys 'Round Here and Sure Be Cool If You Did. His music moves between heartfelt ballads and rowdy, good-humoured party songs, and he has collected numerous country music awards, including Male Vocalist of the Year honours.
The Voice
Blake became a household name far beyond country radio as an original coach on The Voice. His playful rivalry with fellow coaches, especially Adam Levine, became one of the show's main attractions, and his contestants won the competition many times.
Personal headlines
Blake's private life has generated plenty of headlines. His marriage to fellow country star Miranda Lambert ended in a divorce that sent the gossip mill into overdrive. He then began a relationship with Voice coach Gwen Stefani, and fans followed every detail, including a social media flurry when Gwen liked one of Miranda's tweets. Blake has also pushed back against tabloid coverage, suing a weekly magazine over a story he said was false and damaging. Blake and Gwen later married and have recorded several duets together.
